Our Work
We work at Maple Leaf International High School in Jinshitan - just outside Dalian, China
Shannon teaches Grade 11 biology and Grade 10 Science (and is department head).
Damon teaches writing and Canadian Studies to ESL students preparing for grade 10.
Our Travels
We have enjoyed traveling together over the past 8 years or so, although our overseas journeys have really just begun in the past 4 years. Before moving to Korea in November of 2005 we spent time traveling through some of Canada and the U.S, having to drive across Canada to get to school in Nanaimo and back home a couple of times. Our honeymoon was a great 2.5 weeks through some amazing parts of the USA including New Orleans a year before Hurricane Katrina passed through.
Korea began our desire for traveling outside of North America, as we visited Hong Kong, Taipei, and Boracay (Philippines) in our one year of living in Seoul.
After the contract finished in Korea, we decided to take a 5 month trip which included significant amounts of time in India and Europe, as well as a stop off in Dubai and Morocco.
Moving to China has done wonders for our traveling as we have been able to get around some of China (Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'An, etc) as well as going to Egypt, Borneo, Malaysia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
We will go to Tokyo for a few days this summer on our way home, and we are planning for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos for our next holiday in the winter time.
